The waitlist notice

Your email, and what this page keeps

This page is a waitlist for Cuttlefish, an app in development. Here is everything it keeps, why, where it’s stored, and how to leave.

What we keep

  • Your email address, if you join the waitlist.
  • Whether you said you’d talk to us for 20 minutes.
  • Which version of this page you saw. There are four, A, B, C and D, and we’re learning which one describes the idea best.
  • A coarse tag for how you found the page: reddit, meta, post or direct.
  • The month you joined.

Separately, the page keeps counts: how many browsers saw each version, and how many of them joined, by the same coarse tag. The counts are numbers only, with no email attached.

What we don’t keep

No IP address, no browser or device details and no cookies. The page runs no tracking or advertising scripts and loads nothing from any other website.

What your browser keeps

Your browser keeps a few small notes in its own storage, not cookies: which version it was shown, and whether it has already been counted, with the coarse tag it came from. The notes themselves are never sent; a sign-up is counted under the same coarse tag as the visit. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them.

Why

  • To email you when the beta opens.
  • If you ticked the box, to ask you once for 20 minutes to talk.
  • To learn which of the four descriptions makes sense to people.

We never sell or share your email, and we never use it for advertising.

Where it’s stored

In a database on Cloudflare, which hosts this page. Only the maker of Cuttlefish has access to it. We keep your email until you leave the list, or until the waitlist is no longer needed, and then delete it.

How to leave

Enter the email you joined with, and it’s deleted from the list straight away.
